Beginning of the Building Process

So, we decided to create a blog to share the process of building our first home. We knew we wanted to build our own home before we were even married. We started looking for property as soon as we got back from our honeymoon. We closed on our 1.75 acres on New Year's Eve '07. We found the property the day they had listed it for sale and had it under contract that day! Ever since, we've been waiting and waiting...and we're hoping to finally start building as soon as May! We haven't really talked about it much to many people, because we're still not 100% sure that it's going to happen that soon. We're in the process of getting prices together and picking out our sub-contractors. We'll be acting as our own GC, but will be hiring out a few things (especially in the beginning of the process). Anyways, we though it would be fun to have a blog to update with news and pictures as we go along. We need to put pictures of the property up soon. We've done quite a bit of work on the land already... cutting away brush and trees, bush-hogging etc. Right now we're trying to get rid of a massive tree that is down and laying exactly where we're planning on laying our driveway. That's the plans for this week is getting rid of that thing, and starting to lay the driveway.
