Oh, and we got our huge tree out of there, so we were able to put in the driveway! Our neighbor/landlord has a huge tractor (he owns the whole farm around where we are renting now). He took the tractor out there and pulled it out of the way after we used Uncle Matt's chainsaw to cut it out (thanks Matt). We rented a bobcat and scooped out our creek gravel. It's made a pretty nice base driveway so far. We also started cutting down a few trees where the house is going. Quite a few of them are cedars that we are going to use as stair posts, railings and decorative beams for the house. That's about all that we've done up there so far. We'll post pictures of what we've done.

We finally got all of our pricing together at the beginning of this week, and sent our info to our lender on Tuesday. We got a call from him this afternoon and everything is "a go" with the project. They approved the plans, prices and financing. YAY! The only thing we are waiting on now is having our "flood zone" surveyed. Because there is a creek on the property, technically we are on a flood zone, but we are building on top of our hill 200 feet or so away from the creek. Basically, we have to have a surveyor come out and shoot the elevation of where we are building in accordance with the creek and where there could possibly be a flood issue, but because we will be so far above the creek there won't be a problem with having the flood zone "lifted". That doesn't really slow us down on the process though, because our lender told us that all we have to do between now and the time that it's lifted is have flood insurance. No biggie... it's cheaper than auto insurance, and we won't need it for long (maybe 6 months or so).
