Slab Floor and Electric Poles

The slab floor is done. They had the gravel layed on Monday and poured the floor yesterday. Also, the electric company came out to put our 2 poles in yesterday. They hit rock both times, and one of the digs broke their auger. They'll have to come back out tomorrow to finish. They enjoyed our "campfire" area and chairs while they waited for the new truck though. I got a couple of pictures of them lounging...pretty funny stuff!

We went to Bowling Green to pick-up a temporary electric pole that someone was selling on Craigslist. It's already wired up and ready to go, and it saved us a little money getting a used one.

Here are pics of the slab floor being poured and the guys from the electric company.

Core-Filled Block and Basement Plumbing

A lot has happened since our last blog. Here's the latest... The block walls have been core filled with concrete. We've also done the plumbing rough-in in the basement that will go under our slab floor.

We've had someone from the electric company come out and tell us where our poles are going. We had to take down a few trees, but nothing major. He was very nice and gave us two options. One option was cheaper and easier for them, but would have costed us more trees (a couple of which we were fond of). The other option was a little more work for the electric company, but saved us trees! He was very nice and gave us the options. He didn't have to do that. They usually do the easiest way for them. We will have to have 2 poles on our property this way. Anyways, we got the few trees out of the way. We've got two very large firewood stacks now, and we've done some work to our campfire area.

Here are the photos of the guys pouring concrete in the block walls and the basement bathroom plumbing rough-in.

Basement Block

Our basement block is complete! We did our black tar waterproofing Friday. That was a messy job to say the least. The drain is down, and we had a load of gravel delivered and had that layed over the drain around the exterior. The block will be core-filled with concrete on Thursday. After that comes the slab floor and backfilling/final grading. We're going to go ahead and install our basement plumbing drains for our basement bathroom before they pour the slab. Our framers are scheduled to start in a week or so. Moving right along, and so far so good!

We built a little fire pit next to our firewood stack. We've already tested it out. We had hot dogs and samores over the fire. Now all we need is a tent and some sleeping bags and we'll have our own little camp site!

Here are the newest pix:
